Quite surprising to see the northern lights at this time of the year. They looked pretty, so I took a photo.
Taken in Kuopio, (Middle-)Finland on 19th of August.

aurora borealis. I used to live in Alaska, northern lights are so spiffy. Its worth going out in the -40 to see them. I didnt know they turned out with a camera so well.

Yep, that is weird to see them _here_ in +20C, in the middle of summer. Oh well, early autumn. But hey, I got to see them at least once in my life. :)

i cant say that ive ever seen the northern lights in the summer, even as far north as i lived. that is amazing. Did the ones you saw move around a lot?

They did. Usually there was two, but I also managed to take a photo where the whole sky was on fire - they were huge, and changing all the time. I had to run around the house 'cause they changed place quite often. There were also those red ones, which I hear to be more rare than the greens.
