I kinda just scraped this together from what I could salvage from the .psd file.

NO PEN TOOL.

WARNING: Hueg!
And... God, that is so. Horribly. UNCLEAR. 8D

Thank you so much for this tutorial! It was just the thing I was looking for!! ...and for once I could actually understand what the heck was happening throughout the process. The selection expansion is amazing I wish I had know it earlier!!!

Well enough rambling I have one question:

When I made the line art the lines turned out really sketchy and lumpy, even when I tried making really long strokes. Maybe its just me being shaky or my tablet, but do you have any tips for making such amazingly smooth lines?!

I'm glad you found it helpful :)

Hmm I guess having a good tablet helps too. Lately I've been doodling things with the crappy Aiptek tablet at work when I don't have anything better to do, and I can definitely see some difference in the line quality when compared to my own Wacom Intuos4.

Haha I'm using a little Wacom bamboo so that's probably the problem -___-
I've also got a HP Touchsmart Laptop but I find the tablet works a lot better, it just feels more natural. Well I guess I have to save up for a better tablet!

Thanks for responding to my long winded comment! :D

I dunno, Wacom makes quality products. Unless your Bamboo is very old, I don't think the tablet is to blame for the whole thing. you might want to update your drivers and photoshop and see that the tablet resolution settings are correct too just to be sure. :>

It's archaic but I'll check the drivers!
annd...I can't blame my tablet for my own inexperience heh... But that is what practice is for! I'll keep working at it :)

Thanks Again!
Your work is amazing! Have a great day :3

Yeah.. I'm quite dim and I couldn't follow. I think when you make tutorials you should keep in mind not everyone knows the PS terminology.

All I really want to learn is how you make the pretty glow say- when you put it on the 'bots eyes in most of you pictures. I can't find a reasonable explanation.

Picture turned out lovely though~

This is very helpful for lineart. I've used it for my lineart so far and I feel the results are much better than the way I used to do it.

However, I would love a bit more detail into how the shading works out. The shading portion seems as though you just waved a wand at it to make it pretty, while the lineart section goes into depth of how much work goes into it. I would very much like a more detailed insight into the shading process (I already have my own flatting process).

Yeah, well, the lineart is mainly the thing that people ask me about, so I left the coloring part for less attention. I'll keep this one in mind and see if I could make a similar one for coloring and shading out of some other piece.

Anyway, thanks a lot!
